Paintless dent repair, also known as paintless dent removal, is another method of removing minor dents from your vehicle. A wide range of damage can be repaired using paintless dent repair as long as the paint surface is intact. Paintless dent repair is most often used to repair door dings and dents and hail damage without affecting your original paint job. Paintless dent repair may be used on both aluminum and steel panels. The L&M Body Shop team of estimators have been equipped with the expertise to advise our valued customers when paintless dent repair is the more efficient option.
L&M Body Shop understands that scheduling and dropping off your vehicle can be intimidating and serve as a major inconvenience. Our service standards are such that all individuals, at all locations, are able to drop their vehicles off with the most hassle-free experience possible. During this process, the vehicle is inspected and relevant data is entered into estimate computer systems. This data is compiled into an estimate that determines the cost of repairs. Initial estimates will not include any hidden damage that cannot be seen until disassembly. Our aim throughout this process is to adhere to transparency by thoroughly reviewing estimates and explaining required repairs to our customers. Whether you need a rental, or courtesy vehicle, all paperwork is handled before hand so that the vehicle drop-off process is a quick exchange.
This process varies, depending on whether the repair is going through insurance or paid for by the customer. If it is an out-of-pocket repair, the Collision Repair department replaces exterior panels, and all metal finishing that may be required. Disassembly of the vehicle may reveal hidden damage which is communicated to the customer. Depending on customer approval, more parts may need to be ordered and the estimate adjusted. After this is finalized, the vehicle is sent to the paint department (see next step below). This process breathes life into the vehicle again, as sheet metal is installed and aligned. If the work is being assessed by insurance, insurance approval is required. Once this is provided, disassembly of the vehicle may reveal hidden damage and is often found. Many times, this will require scheduling insurance re-inspection and upon additional approval, ordering more parts. Once this process is complete, the vehicle will go to the paint preparations department.
Paint preparations is a critical step in the refinishing process, requiring expert knowledge and meticulous application. Our skilled technicians and their helpers are master professionals, ensuring all panels are prepared for paint, then primed and sealed to assure good adhesion when the final top color and clear coats of paint are applied. Prior to re-assembly of the vehicle, the lead painter and foreman perform a quality inspection of the final product.
After the paint process is complete, final moldings and detail pieces are applied to the vehicle in our designated reassembly area. During the repair process the vehicle accumulates dust from the repairs. It will be cleaned.
All the vehicle’s systems are checked during this process. It will also be road tested to ensure that everything is working properly. A final inspection will assure that the vehicle is restored to its pre-accident condition. L&M Body Shop’s quality assurance team involves a three-pronged approach: the Estimator, Collision Repair Technician and Lead Painter meet to perform a thorough review of the estimate and inspect the vehicle to ensure a complete and quality repair. This is necessary to ensure any special additions or requests were not missed in the process. Once repairs are validated, a team member test drives the vehicle, and performs the necessary inspections to ensure all vehicle features are working properly. This process is completed for all repairs.
